IREF Sponsored Epidemiological Studies

IREF has developed two major epidemiological studies, EPI-1 and EPI-2, of outcomes in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass for coronary revascularization. Internally funded by IREF, EPI-2 is a complex, global, multicenter study and the largest of its kind ever undertaken.

For each of these comprehensive studies, IREF systematically collects and critically evaluates adverse outcomes, patient risk profiles and concomitant therapies. The data collected from the latest state of the art practices from university affiliated institutions provide key information in the design of clinical trials.
